Press Release: Open letter on the occasion of the swearing-in of Members of Parliament
An open letter to the newly elected Members of Parliament was handed in to Parliament today, signed by 28 civil society organisations, including the Helen Suzman Foundation.
The letter emphasises the importance of the role of Members of Parliament at a critical stage of our democracy and in particular, calls upon them to discharge their oversight responsibility in holding Government accountable, quoting the words of the Chief Justice: “…. The challenge to all of us is to stop kowtowing to corrupt leadership wherever it is found. …”.
